The U.S. military disposed of some Korans, the Muslim holy book, by burning them. As a result, angry demonstrations took place in many parts of Afghanistan against "the occupiers" as the U.S. and NATO were called, given the U.S.'s over 10 year occupation of Afghanistan.
When some demonstrations turned into rock throwing, U.S. and NATO contractors and the Afghan military opened fire on the demonstrators, killing at least 6 of them and wounding many more, as the death toll continues to grow. The U.S. military has apologized for burning the Korans and promises it won't happen again. But war is Hell and by definition there will be more ugly incidents as blood keeps being spilled and men, women and children continue to be killed or maimed, while more children are orphaned.
