Billions Of Dollars Disppear In Afghanistan: Notes From Peace Demonstratons, 3/9/12

Some senior officials of the U.S. government are upset because it was discovered a year or two ago, the Kabul Bank was looted of nearly a billion dollars by some top government and banking officials and no one has been prosecuted for it. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/08/world/asia/corruption-remains-intractable-in-afghanistan-under-karzai-government.html?_r=1&emc=eta1

This is ironic because a few years ago, U.S. and global institutions lost not a billion dollars but trillions of dollars from Wall Street manipulators and not one of them has been prosecuted either. To the contrary they have continued making huge sums of money. And as for Afghanistan, the U.S. military spends billions of dollars there and out of that money, the U.S. taxpayer is in the process of paying back Kabul Bank's looted funds, much as the U.S. taxpayer got the bill for the Wall Street scandal.
