In Iraq yesterday, consistent
with the ongoing violence, a series of explosions across the nation, but
especially in Baghdad, took the lives of 23 men, women and children, while
injuring 170 more. http://original.antiwar.com/updates/2012/06/22/bloody-iraq-23-killed-170-wounded-in-attacks-on-shiite-shoppers-iranian-pilgrims/ Many
of them were religious pilgrims.
The message is simple.
As in Afghanistan, no place is safe as each nation tears itself apart in spasms
of blood. This will eontinue until the waring parties in both nations set a
cease fire and negotiate some form of settlement and then establish governments
the people will support.
But each time those nations explode in violence,
my heart aches for the families that must bury their dead, care for their
severely wounded and find homes for the surviving children, some of whom are
orphaned. We as mankind are capable of far better than this.
