Notes From Peace Demonstrations, 6/21/12: Afghan Bomb Kills 21, Including 3 U.S. Soldiers

Yesterday in a crowded marketplace 90 miles southeast of Kabul, an explosion killed 21 men, women and children, among them, 3 U.S. soldiers and their translator. Other people were seriously injured and that death toll could mount. This is the 3rd attack on Americans in the last 3 days as this pointless war continues, marking each day in blood.

What this war is accomplishing aside from enormous military spending on its beneficiaries, the military industrial complex and the campaign contributions they make, I don't understand. To seek peace is the only plausible approach but not an approach the U.S. government, which initiated this war 10 1/2 years ago, and its adversaries are not yet willing to do.

In the meantime, this tragedy continues to grow. For all that is in the religious bonds of humanity, for all that is regarded as civilized among peoples, for the love of God, I hope this war is brought to an end soon.
