Notes From Peace Demonstrations, 6/14/12: Iraq Slaughter

Yesterday in Iraq, at least 16 bombs were detonated, killing an estimated 107 men, women and children while wounding approximately 384 more. http://original.antiwar.com/updates/2012/06/13/iraq-slaughter-107-killed-384-wounded/

Sadly, this senseless violence has no end and was the second major bomb attack in the last week. As they have since the U.S. invasion in March, 2003 the Iraqi people continue to struggle from too little electricity, too little medical care, too little clean water, too little sewage treatment, to little jobs available and to that horrific scenario, to little safety.

To borrow a title from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. "I have a dream" the Iraqis will put their anger aside for the good of their children and peacefully resolve their differences so that they can live in peace and prosperity. Throughout history, people have overcome worse situations than Iraqis suffer from today to build prosperous societies and with time, Iraqis will hopefully do the same.

Note: Each time these horrific attacks occur, my heart aches for the families torn asunder and left to bury their loved ones.
