Notes From Peace Demonstrations, 6/8/12: "U.S. troops suicide rate soars"

Dear reader, "U.S. troops suicide rate soars," is a headline of yet another tragic story from the U.S.'s wars, this one from the Toronto Star. http://www.thestar.com/news/world/article/1208341--u-s-troops-suicide-rate-soars

War brings with it so much devastation, measured in many ways, in this case, the suicides of so many young soldiers. It is especially heartbreaking when one thinks of the potential for good these you people had and now their families are left to bury them and to live with the heartache of their profound loss.

Meanwhile, Fox News reports: "AP Impact: Almost half of new vets seek disability." Nearly half of the 1.6 million vets that fought in Iraq and/or Afghanistan are now seeking disability payments, which is by far a record percentage for any U.S. wars. But these wars are taking a horrific toll on the soldiers in this form as well as in being killed and in being severely injured. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/05/27/ap-impact-almost-half-new-vets-seek-disability/

Have we as a people lost our minds? These wars are accomplishing nothing, other than to enrich some corporate interests. Why are we tolerating these horror shows as if the lives of everyone involved in the fighting, including the men, women and children of these nations, don't matter. We must, as people of conscience, cry out "enough" and do what we can to stop these wars.
