He has held a weekly peace vigil in Redondo Beach, CA along Pacific Coast Highway virtually every week since just before U.S. President George W. Bush launched the Iraq war and occupation in March, 2003. On special occasions such as Memorial Day, he hosts an additional peace vigil.
The following are John's comments from his latest peace vigil:
Well, Dick, it was a great night. The Asian couple, who often dropped by your PVD vigil [by this dear reader, John is referring to the peace vigil I hosted for six years, until January of 2012], drove south, and the lady gave me a big wave. The lady who bought your house too.
The fellow who found and returned my flag came by with his family. I got at least two 'thank you's' for the three pins and erasers.
I said aloud to none and all how lucky kids are who have parents that take the time and trouble to teach them courteous behavior, since many kids grow up not knowing such things.
Grant came by for the last 15 minutes. All around a very nice, better than average evening.
Michele is fine and appreciated Ann's and your concern.
